Dr. Abdul Lathief V. is a poet, academic translator, and linguist. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Malayalam at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, specializing in linguistics. His literary contributions include the books Kasarkote Maraatikal: Bhashayum Samoohavum, Peraykkayude Manam, Mathalathottathinte upamayil ninnu allikal pottichedukkunna vidham, and Malayali aadujeevitham vayikkunnath endukondu?. He translated the book Malabar in the Indian Ocean (Oxford University Press, 2018) into Malayalam, titled Indian Mahasamudravum Malabarum (DC Books, 2023).
